Effects of Fibromyalgia


There are various symptoms that a person may experience with fibromyalgia they may include:

Fatigue

The severity of this can differ from person to person. People tend to feeldrained of energy

Pain

this is the most common symptom of fibromyalgia. It can be more common in the muscles that are used repetitively. The pain is sometimes described as throbbing, stabbing, shooting or burning. It will vary from person to person and day to day.

Muscle and joint ache

this can occur in any joint in the body but is most common in the lower back and legs. It may be worse with physical or mental exertion

Cognitive dysfunction

this could be poor concentration or memory loss. General reduction in cognitive function is common

Morning stiffness

Similar to arthritis. Stiffness in major joints may be felt in the morning

Sleep disturbance

it can sometimes cause excessive sleeping and altered sleeping patterns.

Abdominal pain

similar to irritable bowel syndrome. Sometimes people with fibromyalgia may be diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome.

Skin sensitivity

Some people will experience high sensitivity in areas where there is pain present.
